Born in Daegu, South Korea, 김경수 Mark Kyungsoo Bias is a recipient of the 2022 Joseph Langland Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets, the 2020 William Matthews Poetry Prize from the Asheville Poetry Review selected by Ilya Kaminsky, and a semi-finalist for the 92Y “Discovery” Prize.

His work has been published or is forthcoming in AGNI, New England Review, Gulf Coast, Georgia Review, Cero MagazineThe Adroit Journal, Narrative, Best New Poets, The Offing, Hayden Ferry’s Review, The Common, The Margins, and Washington Square Review, among others.

A 2021 “Without Borders” Tin House Scholar, he has been offered a “Contributor Award” from the Bread Loaf Writers Conference and scholarships from Kundiman, as well as recognition from the Saejowi Initiative for National Integration, which seeks to provide aid to North Korean refugees.

His work has been featured in Literary Hub, Poetry Daily, Winning Writers, and AGNI‘s digital portfolio for Asian Adoptee diaspora. He holds an MFA and Film Certificate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where he was a REAL Fellow.
