Overview

  • An asynchronous poetry revision studio originally taught at Grub Street, now at a lower cost and with new material.

  • While there will be deadlines for submitting poems and feedback to your peers, this class does not meet. You may peruse the video seminars and readings in your time as long as you meet the deadlines.

  • Asynchronous. All videos and readings will be posted on Google Classroom.

  • Creative writing institutions are too expensive and sometimes a bit intimidating. Everyone deserves to be a part of a writing community while moving at a manageable pace.

  • We will read each other’s work and readings that pertain to the week’s craft lesson.

FAQs

I took this class when you taught it at Grub Street. Is it worth taking again?

Yup! If you have taken this class before, you will immediately recognize the structure of the course. Much of the material will be familiar with minor updates, but bringing new poems for feedback would be really beneficial.

How long are the video seminars?

The video seminars will range from 5-10 minutes, depending on the density of content and amount of reading for the week. One of the main goals of the course is to attend a class that you can manage with your everyday life.

How much feedback on my poems will I receive each week?

It depends on the number of people in the class, but you will always have at least 2 other writers giving you feedback. I will also provide feedback.

How is the price compared to other programs with a similar structure and timeframe?

I researched many different programs to offer you the lowest tuition fee as possible. The spectrum of cost is very large, but overall, programs similar to this one range from $450-$3,000. This studio is only $325 at the discounted price.

Do I have to apply for the studio?

There is no application required. You will be asked to submit a portfolio of poems before the start date, but your portfolio will have no bearing on your enrollment.
